Sketchy RV Park in Alabama - on our 12th day of on this year long road trip, we re-routed our plan to Birmingham, Alabama. As some of you know, we are also completing our 50 states, on top of trying to complete all 59 US national parks.
We usually just use a phone app to look for RV parks wherever we are going. We found one that was $20 and called them to confirm the price. What a deal. However, when we got there, red flags suddenly went up because it seemed that the RV park was behind a secluded community park and the roads were narrow (even for our tiny trailer) and they had a lot of potholes.
We also saw the condition of the trailers of people currently staying there. We immediately did not feel comfortable. As a result, we just turned around and found a spot where we can get some phone signal, so we can research again for other RV parks in the area. The closest one we found was 30 minutes away.
This time, it was a community trailer park. We felt a little better there as they at least have an office where people can register. They know who are there. Children actually live there, etc. It wasn't the best set up but it was starting to get late and we needed a place to stay.
Lesson learned. There was a reason why it was only $20 :-). Sometimes, you get what you pay for.
WHO ARE WE?
We, Irwin and Victorina, have decided to quit our jobs, sell everything we have and go on an epic road trip of visiting all U.S. National Parks! Follow our journey - from letting go of our material possessions, preparing for the extended camping trip, and even the mistakes, joys, doubts and adventures we make along the way! We hope to inspire others to appreciate the beauty of Planet Earth.
Adventure begins in Feb 2017. We estimate this road trip will take us approximately 12 to 16 months. We know we will some amazing places and meet a lot of interesting people.
If you have an idea or suggestions for us for places to visit along the way, feel free to contact us!
NEW VIDEOS every Monday, Wednesday and Saturday. If we miss a day, it is probably because we had no phone signal inside the park or we couldn't find any wifi access. If this is the case, we will upload our video as soon as we get any phone signal.
